Features & User Guide
Everything you need to know about the F1 Dashboard — from getting started to advanced strategy analysis.
Getting Started
The F1 Dashboard connects to the official F1 timing system and streams real-time data during live sessions. Between sessions, you can replay any past session from the archive.
During a live session
Open the Dashboard — data streams automatically. The green Connected indicator in the sidebar confirms the connection.
Between sessions
Go to Replay Sessions, download any past session from the archive, and click Watch to start playback.
The dashboard works on desktop, tablet, and mobile. All data updates in real-time — no page refreshes needed.
AI-Powered IntelligenceLive Race Only
What sets this dashboard apart: real-time AI predictions that analyze live race data to forecast strategy decisions before they happen. These features are exclusive to live race sessions.
AI Pit Stop Prediction
Predicts when each driver is likely to pit based on tire degradation, lap times, track position, and historical patterns. See a countdown-style prediction window for every driver on the grid — know who's about to pit before it happens.
AI Strategy Analysis
Real-time strategy commentary analyzing undercut/overcut windows, optimal pit timing, compound choices, and race-winning moves. Understands safety car scenarios, weather changes, and multi-stop strategies.
AI features require a live race session. They are not available during practice, qualifying, or replay mode as they depend on real-time race dynamics.
Live ModeLive
During a live F1 session (Practice, Qualifying, Sprint, or Race), the dashboard receives real-time data from the F1 timing system. All widgets update automatically as events happen on track.
What you get live
- Driver positions, gaps, intervals, and sector times
- Car telemetry: speed, RPM, gear, throttle, brake, DRS
- Live car positions on the track map
- Race control messages and flag changes
- Team radio transcriptions
- Pit stop events and tire compound data
- Weather conditions (air/track temp, wind, rain)
- AI pit stop predictions — know who's about to pit (race only)
- AI strategy analysis — undercut/overcut windows, optimal timing (race only)
TV Sync
If you're watching the TV broadcast, use the Sync to TV button in the top bar to add a delay (typically 30-60 seconds) so the dashboard matches the broadcast timing. You can also set a custom delay in Settings.
Auto-Layout
Enable Auto-Layout in Settings to have the dashboard automatically rearrange widgets based on the race phase: formation lap, green flag, pit window, safety car, rain, and final laps. Each phase shows the most relevant widgets.
Replay ModeReplay
Replay mode lets you re-watch any past F1 session with the full data stream, just as it happened live.
How to start a replay
- Go to Replay Sessions in the sidebar
- Browse by year — sessions are grouped by Grand Prix weekend
- Click Download to fetch the session data from the F1 archive
- Once downloaded, click Watch to start playback
Playback controls
The replay bar appears at the top of the screen with these controls:
- Timeline scrubber — click or drag to seek to any moment
- Speed — 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 4x, or 8x playback speed
- Pause/Play — pause to freeze the data at any point
- Exit — return to live mode
All dashboard widgets work identically in replay — you see the same data as during the live session. The only difference is you control the timeline.

Track MapLive + Replay
The full-page track map shows all cars on the circuit in real-time. Each car is colored by team and shows the driver abbreviation, position number, and current speed.
Speed Colors
The track renders with speed-colored overlays from all drivers combined. Colors indicate speed zones:
- Green — high speed (>280 km/h, straights and DRS zones)
- Amber/Yellow — medium speed (150-280 km/h, fast corners)
- Red — low speed (<150 km/h, heavy braking zones)
Fade Duration
Control how long speed data stays visible using the buttons in the top-right corner:
- Full — show the entire trail with no fade (recommended for full circuit view)
- 30s / 60s / 90s / 120s — speed data fades out after the chosen duration
Labels
Toggle Labels on/off to show or hide driver name pills next to each car dot.
Strategy & AnalysisLive + Replay
Deep analysis tools for understanding race strategy, driver performance, and on-track battles.
Race Analysis
Multi-tab view with position changes, gap evolution, lap time distribution, and stint analysis all in one place.
Head to Head
Pick any two drivers and compare lap-by-lap: gap evolution, sector deltas, stint performance, and tire strategy side by side.
Tire Strategy
Visual timeline of every driver's tire stints: compound type, stint length, pit stop timing. See who's on fresh vs. old tires.
Tire Degradation
Lap time degradation curves per driver showing how tire performance drops over a stint. Compare compounds and strategies.
Overtakes
Automatic detection of position changes. See where battles happen, who's gaining, and track overtake counts per driver.
Compare Sessions
Compare data across different sessions — useful for analyzing practice vs. qualifying performance or year-over-year changes.
Settings & Customization
The Settings page gives you full control over the dashboard experience. Here are the key options:
Live Delay
Set a 0-60 second delay on live data to match TV broadcast timing. Use the "Sync to TV" button for one-click setup.
